What to consider when buying a PC

Well... Where to start? When buying a P.C. for my course there are allot of things one must consider. Going into shops and looking up websites how do you know which the right one for you is? How can you really tell who has the right deal for you, cause after all that’s what all the salespersons are telling you!

You must ask yourself what you want from your P.C.. Good picture, high sound quality, fast working and lots of memory.
The monitor is used so you can see what you are doing with the computer. When choosing a monitor you should try getting one with the highest resolution. This will improve the quality of the picture you see. The graphic card will also improve the image.

For good sound quality you should get a sound card. This is used to make the P.C play the sound. Speakers will also come in useful, without them you will not be able to hear the sound.

When you give the P.C. commands it follows these instructions using its processor so having the latest one will ensure smooth running of your P.C... The speed relies on the RAM (random access memory) on the P.C. The more RAM it has the faster it will go.

For all that memory for your music, pictures, college documents, games and all the programs you’ll need e decent hard drive! Make sure your hard drive has enough memory for everything you’ll want on your P.C...

Now what programs do you need? As a college student I personally think Microsoft Office is very, very important! This contains Microsoft Word which is very useful for writing up all the necessary work for college. Power Point is helpful when making presentations. Excel comes in handy for when you need to make up spreadsheets. All in all Microsoft Office is a handy package to have!

To allow Microsoft Office or any other program to work I would recommend using Windows Vista!!! This will give you your basic games such as solitaire to keep you from getting bored, programs such as Windows Media Player which you can use to play and store all your music and videos and even store your pictures!

Any other programs should be selected to fit your own individual needs!!

Social Networking-

The use of a website to connect with people who share personal or professional interests, place of origin, education at a particular school, etc..

What is social networking?
Social networking works like an online community for those using the internet. There are many social networking websites or social sites and they are commonly used worldwide. These social sites are used by members with common interests/hobbies. Members can socialise with each other on these sites by viewing each other’s profiles and in some cases contact them.
What are the advantadages/disadvantages of social networking?
There are great advantages when it comes to these social sites. Not only can you keep in contact with your friends but you can make new ones. And it doesn’t stop there, as the internet is used worldwide you make friends in other countries. This gives you an opportunity to learn about other people’s cultures etc..
Social networking also comes with disadvantages. Social sites can be dangerous. Like the real world we must take care in talking to strangers and we can’t always be sure if these people we don’t know are being honest with us. A problem with it being done over a computer as to face to face is these persons can invent themselves a someone completely different such as being older/younger, the opposite sex or even as a celebrity. Becausee we may not be able to tell if these individuals are being dishonest we must take care ensuring our safety as we would if we were meeting someone in a bar for the first time.
What is social networking used for?
Social networking is used for many things such as-
· A way of advertising/online marketer
· A way to meet people who have similar interests and think like you do
· An opportunity to make special friends and maybe more
· A chance to make contact with old class mates or friends who have moved away

Why should you join?

Are you interested in meeting new people? Would you like to share your passions about a particular topic? Do you care to know more about other cultures? If you answered yes well then it’s simple. Yes you should join!

The Series of Unfortunate Events...

...Which led to the final breakdown of my phone!!

I always had bad luck with mobile phones so when I got my last phone I swore I'd look after it with care!! It wasn't a very good phone, but I liked mainly because I don't seeem to be able to go through a day without it (and it was pink!).
The poor phone went through some hard times unlike my previous ones which were either lost, stolen or simply over used! The first incidient was when it was held hostage by my younger brother who threatened to drop it out the first floor window if he did not get his own way! This resulted in the phone being dropped on to the concrete driveway from his bedroom window! To my suprise the phone survived with only a few scratches and still in perfect working condition!
I continued to handle the phone with care and made sure I never let my brother or any other terorist gain acess to it! It wasn't until several months later I was given the job topping up the acid tank in work!! It was a job I didn't enjoy! After puttting on my protective clothing, gloves goggles etc. I began the usual procedure. As the hose filled up the tank I began to fill out the record book. I needed to record the accurate date and time. My phone was always usfull for this task. As I filled in the page I left my phone resting on the A4 ring binder! Suddenly the hose came out if the axid tank,! I had an immediate reaction to grab the hose anmd as I reached for it my phone fell into the acid tank. Recovering the phone resulted in a burnt hand! The phone didn't recieve any burns instead it went through a week of verbal bullying! The phone was said to have been on a "bad trip" from the acid as it began to have a mind of it's own!

I should of left the phone alone in the"hot press" and let it dry out completely, but I didn't! Instead I was using the phone the whole time calling and texting everyone!! This seemed important to me to make the most of the end of the summer before all my friends split up for college. On one occassion in ehich I was trying to organise a meeting on my lunch break the phone would not do as I was telling it what to do! This enraged me so much that I myself took the role of God and destroyed the phone!

It seemed to be OK after with only the "return" button being a little slow.
